PHS HAIRSCIENCE® is a renowned name in hair care. I’ve been a fan for almost a year now so I was naturally happy to be gifted with the ADV Soothe Range (suitable for dry and sensitive scalp), comprising of Shampoo, Conditioner and Tonic. I have eczema and my scalp is naturally also dry, thanks to the cooler weather in December my scalp has calmed down a bit. Otherwise during extra humid months, my scalp will suffer from redness and flakes.

Personal experience:

I tried the shampoo after teaching two back-to-back yoga classes. My scalp was dry and also irritated from the sweat. The first reaction I had when I opened the bottle was the pleasant scent of Jasmine and Green Tea. No artificial perfume smell. Also, unlike many products available in the market, which are watered down, the shampoo is concentrated. After lathering and washing off, I applied the condition on my hair tips. Like the shampoo, it didn’t have the strong musty scent. I also like that it didn’t leave an oily after-feel on my hands and body. Last, I applied the tonic. I’ve to admit that I am not a tonic-using person. For me, hair care stops after I towel dry my hair. With ADV Soothe Tonic, I massaged my scalp with tonic using my fingers. This added an extra protection for my scalp.

Summary:

Although, chronic conditions, such as eczema and the humid Singapore weather plays a part in affecting our scalp, products that we use on our hair and scalp are also responsible for causing dryness and sensitivity. Hair colouring, chemicals like chlorine, and perm lotions can irritate the scalp by disrupting pH levels, preventing the secretion of sebum that keeps the scalp moisturised and protected. This results in a dehydrated, sensitised and possibly flaky scalp.

Raise your hand if you buy your beauty products online? I have my stash of k-beauty, j-beauty and t-beauty, but there’s a new category of products that’s slowly taking over my beauty shelf – a-beauty (a.k.a. Australian- beauty)

Enter, Glovida. Glovida isn’t new to our shores. In fact they’ve been operating since 2016. Glovida is made up of the words "Glow" and "Vida", which means "Life: in Spanish. Their brand promise is to empower their customers to embrace life and live life healthier. And that, they do so much.The first thing that drew me to Glovida is the range of Australian products that are hard-to-get in Singapore or otherwise too expensive. I don’t travel to Australia often, nor do I have friends who can haul some products back for me. While there’s no shortage of beauty and health stores, only a few carry Australian brands. A combination of eating healthy, living well and using natural products have helped me manage my skin condition.

Farcent Freshener and Diffusers

Who doesn’t like coming home to a house that smells super good? Especially when you’re out in the blazing sun all day long and sweating like crazy. I like burning candles and diffusing scents because it relaxes me and helps me concentrate when I need to be more mindful. I use it when I meditate, when I’m reading a book, or doing household chores. I rarely buy in Singapore because the brand I like is super expensive here and there’s nothing I like in the local offering.

I was so happy to be gifted by Sample Store the Les Parfums de Farcent (LPF) – perfumed sachets and perfumed diffuser just when my stash needs updating. My favourite scent

I shared in my insta-stories that I am biased towards Sea Salt & Wood Sage, I super like sage. It’s the kind of scent though that either you love or hate. I have decided to use this scent in my walk-in wardrobe which triples up as my meditation room and content creation room. Whilst I’ve placed the freshener in our shoe-room.

The Freesia & English Pear is my next favourite scent, this is actually the scent of my perfume but lighter. I decided to place this in my living room which is the most used area in my house – this is where we hangout and Ichi, my dog rooms there. It’s not too strong to overpower the food when we’re eating or even irritable to my dog (she is very sensitive). I also blends well with my frames, don’t you think? I hung the sachet on the door knob of our guest room.

Finally, Star Magnolia. This reminds me of morning dew or the botanic gardens. I decided to put it beside my nightstand because it’s refreshing to smell in the morning and not to strong to disrupt your sleep (or your dreams!). I’ve decided to put the freshener in my gym bag, because you know why.

Me Clinic Singapore - Me Glow Treatment

Who isn’t into anything Korean – whether it’s kpop, k-drama, k-beauty or k-food! Whether we admit it or not, the Korean wave have taken over an aspect of our life or two. I visited Seoul last month and I thoroughly enjoyed my experience – Sinsa-dong is one of my must-hit spots, with all the hipster cafes and artisanal stores. Of course, I went mad hauling all the make-up and skincare products that I can. All with the goal of achieving that Korean glow!

ME Clinic Seoul is a premium aesthetic clinic from Seoul, South Korea. It is a sought-after clinic by both locals and foreigners alike. Lucky for us here in +65 we can enjoy ME Clinic services without even flying out of the country! I went for a ME Glow treatment at their Singapore clinic and here’s my step-by-step experience.

I stepped into their clinic which is conveniently located in Chinatown, a few steps from Chinatown MRT and Telok Ayer MRT. They just opened their doors last December 2018 and when I came in on a Friday there were patrons in the waiting area. The interiors reminded of a French palace (sans the heat) Like everybody, I can’t wait to try the treatment but I also had a lot of burning questions.

Is it painful?

The process will include micro-needling and this is my main concern. For a person who’s a pain-freak, I’m generally scared of this. I’m the type of person who tears up during eyebrow threading and extraction. I have for the longest time put out the idea of getting a tattoo for this very reason.

If I was going to rate it from 1-10, and eyebrow threading at say 4 for a weakling like me. MEGlow is a 2. The numbing cream really helped a lot I suppose. It was more of a tingling feeling rather than pain.

Is it safe?

I have what you call a virgin face. I have not injected anything on it because of reason A. More importantly if somebody was going to inject something in my body it better not be harmful. The main ingredient is a combination of Hyaluronic Acid and NCTF. NC…what? NCTF .NCTF is a compound that contains essential skin nutrients such as vitamins, amino acids, coenzymes, nucleic bases, minerals and antioxidants. These ingredients work together to combat signs of aging by boosting your skin’s supporting fibres.Hyaluronic Acid plays a crucial role in hydration. However, Hyaluronic Acid diminishes as we age. On average, a person loses approximately 6% every decade. This causes lines to appear and skin tone to slacken.

Where is the Hyaluronic from and is it safe to apply it in our bodies?

The Hyaluronic acid that they have is from Filgora, a well-renowned brand and like all things in life. Anything in excess is bad - The molecular weight of the Hyaluronic Acid used in ME Glow is similar to the naturally occurring Hyaluronic Acid in our bodies. It is equally pure, ensuring optimum absorption and biopenetration. Its hydration, skin repair and volume-enhancing properties aim to build your skin up.

How long is the session going to be like?

The session took 2 hours for me. But since different persons differ, this timing might vary.

Will there be any downtime and how long?

I was told that there will be a downtime of 2-3 days because your face would be red and raw. Am I just lucky? I didn’t really experience any downtime and the redness were very minimal. I was able to apply my normal make-up the next day.

How many sessions do I need before I see a difference?

I personally felt that my face was more hydrated after 2 days and even though I didn’t really get a lot of sleep during the work week my face still looks like I clocked in 8 hours. It is recommended to take 2-3 sessions in year.

How much is it per session?
