Before the CNY feasting began and before I left for my Turkey trip I was fortunate enough to be invited by Absolute PR to the launch of Body Contour Premier’s latest treatment – Cleanslim. Cleanslim combines the modern technology of needle, less the acupuncture coupled with traditional guasha techniques. Do you think that is ouchie? Fret not because it is a non-invasive and safe remedy.

For the TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) noobs like myself, Guasha is a physical therapy technique known for healing pain, stiffness, fever, chills, coughs and nausea. It is proven to be effective for a lot of centuries so that’s why the technique is still used today in the modern world of medicine. Plus, it is proven to aid in weight loss.

The skeptic in me said yes to the idea because of the binge eating I anticipate will be happening this season. I booked my appointment last 1^st of February at Raffles Town Club. I was greeted politely by the receptionist who asked me to fill up a standard getting to know me form and was immediately shown the shower and Jacuzzi area. I didn’t have extra time because it was a work day but should I have gone on a weekend I would probably spend some time in the Jacuzzi.

After changing to comfortable clothes, I was escorted to a nice and cozy room and was offered some tea for relaxation. The therapist explained to me what I should expect during the treatment. It all started with a deep tissue massage on the back and guasha. At first, I was uncomfortable with the guasha during treatment but felt good afterwards, expect that your back will be red with all the cupping. Just keep in mind that they’re red for a reason and it’s probably because these are problem areas and need attention. The concentration of my fat are actually in my stomach, therefore specialized massage techniques were applied on my stomach. They say that it’s really effective and helpful for bloating, water retention and loosening stubborn fats tissues.

As for my legs, they were placed on a vibrating body shaker exercise machine and I was told that it’s as good as doing exercise for 45 minutes. Wow, in the comfort of the spa and air-conditioned room, yes please! Cleanslim is priced at $280 per session for 60 minutes but my readers and followers get it at S$68 (valid until 31st March 2016) when you quote my name. Although I didn’t notice an instant change on weight and appearance, I felt calmer and more at peace with my body afterwards, as if I got to know it better. I must admit though that I do put up long hours at work, I spend a lot of time going out and although I practice yoga everyday my body is in so much stress. It’s good to be able to reward and thank your body for a job well done for the long week.
