Every 18th of June

It’s been drizzling and raining in Singapore and that gave me the opportunity to take out my sweater from the cupboard. Grey is always a good choice for autumn and winter, but to brighten things up a bit (we’re after all still in a tropical country) I wore my earrings from Tjem.sg.

Thanks to Gushcloud and their awesome giveaways, I managed to win a staycation at klapsons Boutique Hotel. I work at Tanjong Pagar area so I decided to check-in on a Friday, it's quite timely since it's also DFW weekend and I'm watching Run After that Friday evening.

I was actually quite surprised as it didn't really feel like a boutique hotel - the lobby was massive with high ceiling. Before I checked-in, they contacted me asking if I am willing to be featured as one of the "Faces of klapsons", that came with a questionnaire which made me reflect and think about what my favorite spot in the hotel and the differentiating factor of the hotel.

My favorite spot is the photo below - there are different couch sets in the lobby. You get to choose which couch would suit your personality or your mood for the day. Obviously my mood was "Runway Chic" so I shamelessly spread my legs on one of the couches.

This is the photo of the Executive Room, there is a transparent shower right smack the middle of the room. So unless you're bringing your significant other or a person you're super comfortable showering "with" - this type of room is not for you. Too bad I wasn't able to take a photo of it!

Apart from favorite spots, I also have a favorite experience - Not having to pay anything from the mini bar. Yup, the canned softdrinks are free which made one very happy fiancé. I read in one of their brochures that if you check in at midnight you get a sweet surprise! We actually called the reception when we got back at like 11pm and they said it's only for those late check-in types.

The next morning we had breakfast at The Sleeping Rhino - I had crab cake benedict and I love it.
the crab cake wasn't floury at all though the hollandaise was very creamy for my taste. But it's a hefty meal which could probably last me the entire day. It came with juice, coffee or tea and fruits, cereals and yogurt selection. We spent around 2 hours at the Sleeping Rhino getting our coffee fix (or three).

It was a very quiet morning since it was a Saturday and I could imagine the hotel to be busy during regular weekdays since it's located in the CBD anyways. I would recommend the hotel to business travelers, urban travelers and city-people like myself.

I admit when I'm lazy I just throw on anything black and pray it works - well 99% of the time it does! There are tons of of blog posts and write ups out there listing black must have items and this is my contribution to society.

Dress - Love Bonito, Shoes - H&M, Necklace - Lovisa, Hat - H&M

3. Strappy heels

You will always see me in heels, unless ofcourse you see me in Yoga class where I'm barefoot. Standing at 158 cm, I grew up feeling rather conscious and sad of my height. But I guess it's all depends on your perspective, I have a friend who stands at 179 cm and she hates it.

Strappy sandals makes any outfit feminine, pair it with denims and and a white crisp shirt and voila you can go to a hot date. Even typical errands such as going for your coffee run makes the activity very sexy. I got the pair below from Zara (Manila, Philippines), on sale ofcourse for around S$20. Most of my shoes are actually from Zara like 50% of my shoe collection. They're damn comfy and affordble when you purchase it during sale season.
I lived in Spain for a year and I regretted not hoarding shoes back.

Dress - Love Bonitp, Bag - Chanel, Shades - Rayban

4. Culottes

I must admit, I wasnt a huge fan of culottes when it re-appeared last year which is why you wouldn't see me in culottes ever up until like August this year. As confessed above, I'm very petite and never really though that culottes would look good on me. But, paired with a feminine and sleek shoes like the one below then you're all set. For October alone I think I've bought around 8 pieces of culottes - I wear them to work and it's a cut between pants and skirts. It's so comfy and versatile.

5. Cape

Yah, yah it's warm in Singapore and it doesn't feel quite right to be throwing over a cape. But most of us stay indoors anyway right? I like wearing capes because I can almost where anything underneath and then throw my cape and get on with life. I can wear for example a very short bodycon dress without fearing that the HR might hound on me. Pair it with denim shorts and a white shirt and you're ready for an all-girls' brunch or a movie date with the boyfie.

I used to live at Somerset/River Valley area, whenever Vince and I actually have the time and energy to head out for weekend brunch,  Robertson Quay is our area of choice.  The location is so peaceful and serene and there are tons of good eating places depending on what we are craving for. One of the places I often see but rarely ate at is Pies & Coffee. I always thought that they only served desserts and well, coffee so we wouldn't really go there for brunch or if we were really hungry. I would only head out there after having dinner elsewhere.

Thanks to Amanda (from Brand Cellar) whom I met at another blogging event, Vince and I was able to sample the hot meals at Pies & Coffee. The media tasting was held at their Alexandra Retail Centre outlet (across Gilman Barracks). They introduced 5 new items in their menu. Can you make a guess which one is my favorite?

New in the menu

Curry Chicken Pot Pie

Hungarian Beef Goulash

Lobster Bisque Baked Rice

Croque Monsieur

New England Clam Chowder Soup

All-time favorites

Beef Cheek

Barbeque Chicken Pie in Beetroot Crust

Charcoal Crust Curry Chicken Pie

Well, if you're following my Instagram account (@hannatantoco), I already revealed that my favorite is the Barbeque Chicken Pie - it's sweet and savory at the same time and the colour red makes it more appetizing! Amongst the new items in the menu, the Lobster Bisque Baked Rice is definitely a win. I've always been a fan of lobster and the cheesy mozarolla cheese made it more tasty.

That's Vince devouring the Beed Cheek, that has always been his favorite.

The prices are from S$9.20 - S$14.90 so it's really reasonable considering some of the items come with a side of salad and mashed potatoes.

Find Pies & Coffee in the following locations:
Robertson Walk
Rochester Mall
The Grandstand

Ever since it was announced that the Old Supreme Court will be undergoing renovations to make way for the National Gallery - I held my breath. The Old Supreme court was already a stunner in its current state (back in 2011) and it's nice to know that it will be made even better!

My daily commute includes passing by the Padang, Victoria Concert Hall, Parliament, Fullerton and now the National Gallery and all its glory.

I'm doing a big event for my day job in January and naturally I suggested this location to my boss. Here are some snaps which I took during the F1 weekend, because that was the time when they removed the scaffoldings temporarily. I can't wait for the grand opening on 24th of November, I blocked it in my calendar and I can't contain my excitement!

Outfit details:

Dress - Love Bonito which I got from their warehouse sale at S$15!
Shoes - from Payless which I got in NYC last July 2014 (it's crazy comfortable)
Bag - Vintage Chanel 2.55 Medium, Lambskin leather from Tokyo
Denim Jacket - H&M

I feel literally empty because I lost my SD card with 2 months worth of photos that I haven't sift through and I have not backed up. Also, my blogging access (for some weird reason) have not been available for almost 3 weeks. So I apologise in advance that this blog post would not have any visuals.

I’ve been following a strict diet and exercise regime for my wedding in January, up until Mig.me e-mailed me about a collaboration with Domino’s pizza. I sunk in my seat, helpless as I read the details of the e-mail. I surrendered to my craving and said yes. Yes, I’ll be there with my empty stomach.
