I love shopping. I love shopping for clothes and make-up products. I could very much end my blog post there as I know most of my readers are into shopping too. But my post today isn’t just about traditional shopping, but rather virtual shopping or online shopping. I must admit, I wasn’t such a huge fan of online shopping because an order of mine never came and the refund process was too tedious. So I continued my physical shopping but my schedule at work became crazy so I didn’t have any choice but to purchase online again. I was smarter this time as I read reviews of different folks from different sources. I rarely trusted the in-store reviews as it may be tainted so I gathered the information from Instagram, Lookbook, Facebook and my friends. It was not easy obviously as I needed to sift through various sources and it took a lot of time. But thankfully, we now have ShopVenture which is an online shopping review community, whose users are dedicated to sharing their online shopping experiences to help fellow consumers make smart purchase decisions.

I have just signed up myself and have reviewed my favorite stores online. What I love about ShopVenture is that it houses the reviews of practically all the fashion and lifestyle brands in the world so it is as easy as find-and-read and also all my feedbacks go straight to the merchant. For all budding or start up e-commerce owners, you can register your store to reach a wider community of online shoppers and at the same time get a pulse of what the community is saying about your brand so you can improve or continue what you are currently doing. 

Now, I make it a point to go to ShopVenture first to read reviews before I purchase anything online or actually before I purchase anything. For example, I’m moving in to a new house this end of the month so I need new linens and some furniture so I’m definitely checking out the household category and filter the stores that ship to Singapore. I am definitely eyeing a few things now!

Some Pros and Cons for shopping online based on my experience:

Pros

1. All you need is an internet connection and your credit card

2. You can find unique and hard-to-find items

3. You can purchase from stores even if they’re not in your country

4. It can be cheaper (sometimes)

Cons

1. Since you’re relying heavily on photos – some items may not be true to photo

2. Sizing, material or the style may not fit and the refund process is crazy or non-existent

3. Waiting time

4. Lost mails

I can’t remember the last time I had a facial. Maybe it’s about a year ago to be honest, I know I’m very lazy but because I feel that facials are a chores rather than a form of relaxation especially the extraction part. I got to know about Crystal Maiden through Mefitted who has kindly arranged the treatment, I said yes because I wanted to try their signature organic holistic treatment after reading good reviews about it.

An easy walk from Somerset MRT, Crystal Maiden is a quaint and clean spa which specialises in organic facial treatments. I was greeted by Yen whom I comfortably discussed my problem areas with so she would know what type of organic treatment she would do – it ranges from mixed skin type, sensitive, excess oils etc.  They use 100% natural certified organic skin care products range from France that comes in vials. The whole treatment is 90 minutes. I went last Monday after traveling for four days so yes – I badly need a facial spa. The holistic facial spa covers the chest, shoulders, nape, face, head and neck. This is the first time I did a facial that included the chest, shoulders and nape area and I must admit it’s very relaxing! After one session you could see my face is glowing and brighter (apologies for my unruly eyebrows).

The treatment she did for me was the Soin Equilibre, if you don’t read French (like myself haha) it means carefully balanced.  This treatment is suitable for all skin types whether oily, combination, dry or mature skin. There were four vials in my treatment and each was carefully removed and extracted. Even after just removing my make-up and cleansing my face, I swear I saw some changes already and I feel that my face is brighter. The massage that comes with it was very relaxing I might have dozed off and snored a bit and only woke up during extraction. Yen asked me if I wanted to proceed seeing that I quite feared it, but I really wanted to maximize the cleansing so I said yes and she was very gentle, and was resting in between a few extractions.

The final part is the mask which lasted for 25 mins. By this time I’m already so relaxed so it wasn’t difficult for me to doze off. Overall, I enjoyed the experience so much and most importantly I was able to see results! I would recommend for both men and women to do it, but the investment doesn’t come cheap. 1 session costs from S$138 – S$238 and it is recommended to have at least 6 sessions to maximize the effects. I was actually thinking if I could give a session (or six) to my mom as a gift!
